A leading figure in the Irish Muslim community has said Sinead O’Connor could be given an Islamic funeral in accordance with her religious beliefs.
Dr Selim told us: "Of course if she is Muslim and it is approved by her family, I would be delighted to facilitate Islamic funeral procedures for her."She did embrace Islam and she was very proud of being a Muslim. She spoke publicly about embracing Islam."It was a very sad moment to read the news that she had passed away.""I understand the difficult circumstances at the moment, and it is a very difficult time for all her family members.
"From a Muslim point of view, we believe that if a person passes away, the body is still respected and handled the same way it would be handled when the person was alive.
