The View co-host Joy Behar referred to Gov. Greg Abbott as"a sadist" during Tuesday morning's episode of the talk show.
Behar's comment on Abbott comes after the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the governor, demanding that a floating barrier his government installed in the Rio Grande be removed. Abbott said he plans to take the fight to the Supreme Court."You know, the thing about Abbott is that he is a sadist," Behar said."I looked up the word 'sadist.
In the DOJ's court filing, the department demanded the Texas government remove the obstruction"at their own expense," arguing such a move was illegal. In a statement regarding the lawsuit, the White House touted its own work toward border security, criticizing Abbott's policies toward the situation as"dangerous and unlawful."
Prior to the lawsuit, O'Rourke called on President Joe Biden to take aggressive action against Abbott. Abbott has refused to take down floating barriers, writing in a letter to Biden that Texas would use"its constitutional authority to deal with the crisis you have caused."“If you truly care about human life, you must begin enforcing federal immigration laws,” Abbott wrote. “By doing so, you can help me stop migrants from wagering their lives in the waters of the Rio Grande River.
