Derek Ryan on meet and greets and shyness - and that Late Late Show moment

Derek Ryan has established himself as one of Ireland’s prominent figures in the realm of country music, captivating audiences across the nation and beyond with his energetic performances and widespread gigs.

That period of his life is a world away from the 39-year-old’s music career today however, where he and his band perform concerts in front of sell-out crowds at home and abroad. Back in March, Derek appeared on The Late Late Show Country Special after its three-year hiatus, and he tells us about the fun they all had.

“I’ve been on The Late Late Show quite a few times, and they’ve been really supportive. It just helps, you can’t really put any kind of figure on it or any number on it to quantify how it helps, but it does.” “Meet and greets are a big part of the country music scene and it’s a great way to get to know your fans who support you at the shows, because I am always so grateful to everyone who has supported me, although it can sometimes be hard to do it straight after a gig and it can be one of the toughest parts,” he admits.
