, “She is a lot more funny and Jewish than that.” This past year, she booked her highest-profile project to date, joiningBelow, Gordon tells Bazaar.com

We had been trying to make it as a feature for six years, so by the time it came together, we honestly couldn’t believe it. We were given 19 days to shoot the whole movie. It was such a mad dash to get everything done. The last 20 minutes are a full musical, there are children, and I’m in it; it’s improv. It was a beautiful experience, making it with my closest friends. We all lived in a house near this camp we shot at. It was extremely meta.

The hardest thing [about] getting the movie financed was explaining we are going to make a mostly improvised movie with children. Everyone was like, “Absolutely not, sorry. Hard, hard pass.” The script was only about 75 pages. A normal script is like 100 to 120. Everything was very intensely structured, like what was going to happen in every scene, but most of the actual dialogue was improvised. It was a fun thing for all of us to choose our own adventure within the world.
