The State Of Disney's Beauty & The Beast Franchise Explained The billion-dollar success of 2017's live-action Beauty and the Beast opened the door to many sequel and spinoff opportunities. The only project that has been greenlit is a Disney+ prequel series officially titled Little Town, in reference to the song "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast. The prequel series will follow Gatson and Lefou, with Luke Evans and Josh Gad reprising their roles as the fan-favorite duo.
However, before the 2023 writers' strike, Little Town was delayed indefinitely by Disney due to scheduling conflicts and creative challenges. There is still no timetable for when it might resume development, though Luke Evans promises the Beauty and the Beast spinoff show will happen at some point in the near future. This was, of course, before the writers' strike, meaning that the prequel series will only be delayed even further.
