Despite being a main target of the movie's critiques, Simu Liu celebrates Mattel's "self-aware" response to Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie. The Shang-Chi actor plays one of the many Kens living in the colorful world of Barbieland in the movie alongside Ryan Gosling's main Ken, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa, and John Cena's Merman Ken.

I think Margot, who also produced the movie, just championed that so perfectly.
But I think it really speaks to just how much everyone on board believed in the vision and the voice of this movie, that they were like, "No, this conversation needs to happen. Mattel needs to be in on this conversation, and we need to be a part of it," because that's the only way that we can move forward. That's the only way that we can get the audience on board with the story that we want to tell.
