OK, I’m a Black man and a true LiamNeeson fan for decades—so much so, I truly grieved for him as he mourned his late wife Natasha Richardson in 2009. Yet it saddens me to know that, if I ran into my fav actor during the time in his life he describes, he might’ve killed me.

I find it strange that many of the same people who condemn Neeson despite his contrition also think violent offenders shouldnt be deported and are worthy of redemption. How can you hold both positions?

Brilliantly written piece. Nuance is sadly lacking when it comes to discussing serious issues and John Barnes is right: it would be a missed opportunity if this is just 'condemned' and then swept under the rug.

let's debate racism in other words

There really ISN’T a debate to be had about whether it’s at all normal to want to kill innocent people just because they have a particular skin color.

One of the best pieces about Neeson. It's far easier to just have a boycott and have a deeper discussion about everyone's biases.

Excellent article 👌🏻👌🏻

My impression of Neeson's admission is that the casual, off-hand manner in which he told of this incident demonstrates he has no inkling of the lives that are ruined and lost every day due to racism like his.

One could be cynical and suggest this all has to do with promoting his new movie!

Stunt for his new movie or a real airing of such impulses?

The struggle to protect him and justify his racism is the definition of white privilege

How much are they paying John Barnes for this Liam Neeson apology tour. Go away

To condemn him is necessary....if forgiveness is requested, then compassion will be necessary...

I don't understand why he had to tell this story to EVERYBODY. It seems like a purge for forgiveness. More self serving than anything else. And why be surprised when he gets mixed reviews.

Now imagine if trump had said the same 😂 Shameless big media protecting Liam Neeson and his racist comments

Piers rages 'I think there will be genuine fully justified outrage.' piersmorgan Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that he didn't act on those thoughts. Which at the end of the day is the hard message. He was a scarred teenager growing up in an unjust society where death and violence was the everyday norm. Ignorance of age also played a significant roll piersmorgan The fact that Neeson can admit to having had those ugly & disgraceful thoughts speaks more about him than it does about those instilling racial hatred by always playing the victim.
