A popular gospel singer, Esther Igbekele, has said that though some people feel that some of the lyrics she uses in her songs are secular, she has no plan to change her style of music to secular.

Speaking about her passion for setting the younger generation on the right path, Igbekele said, “I am a mother of three, and I know the kind of people my children mingle with, and the friends they keep. I tell them to be friends with some people, while I tell them to keep away from some. In today’s world, one cannot pretend not to know about the harmful things happening among the youth. It is so painful seeing children who were born into good Christian homes going into drugs and other vices.

“I usually receive calls from people, narrating their plight to me; and as a mother, I try to counsel them. Sometimes, it is not about the family the children come from, it is also about the kinds of friends they move with or the schools they attend.”All rights reserved.
