Exclusive: Ernie Hudson confirms that Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2 is officially done filming and addresses whether strikes will cause a release delay.

With just a few months gone from when production kicked off, Ernie Hudson has confirmed that Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2 is officially done filming. Hudson reprised his role of original Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore in the 2021 legacy sequel alongside fellow franchise vets Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant for the family drama Prisoner's Daughter, Ernie Hudson offered an update on Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2. In addition to confirming that "the movie is done" filming, the franchise star addressed the possibility of the sequel being delayed from the WGA and potential SAG-AFTRA strikes, indicating Sony is keen to keep their current release date, but may push it to another window.

Yeah, we finished, the movie is done, it's wrapped. Obviously, they're editing and doing whatever else. I've heard rumors the end of the year they'll push for, or maybe spring next year. I never know how the studios are gonna do whatever they do, but the filming is done, which was a little bit difficult with the writers strike and everything going on.

Will Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2 Keep Its 2023 Release? The potential for Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2 to see its December 20, 2023 release date delayed largely stems from the uncertainty the writers strike and potential actors strike has brought to the entertainment industry.

The only other potential hurdle that could see Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2's release date delayed would be Sony's desire to avoid box office competition from the Timothée Chalamet-led Wonka set to release less than a week before it and the long-awaited Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hitting theaters the same day as the former sequel.
