Rumours swirled that they would be getting rid of the building that they had bought several years ago from An Bord Gáis.
It is believed that they could be moving to a rented building away from the studios where The Today Show is filmed.: “People are worried the whole Cork operation is to be scaled down with little or no consultation with anyone.“If the Today Show is taken out of Cork and moved back to Dublin many people here will lose their jobs.”“Contrary to speculation, RTÉ remains fully committed to its operations in Cork,” the statement reads.
“The suitability of the current building for the full range of RTÉ’s operations in Cork is being assessed.”There are around 60 to 70 people who work in the Cork studios between news, radio, production and the Today Show which normally runs for eight months of the year. The Today Show is hosted by Dáithí Ó Sé, Sinead Kennedy and Maura Derrane, who all live in the West of the country.
