With Dave Filoni's Star Wars movie expected to be released in the coming years, the story's ending may already have been revealed back in 2017, by Star Wars Rebels. It is no secret that Filoni is bringing his characters and stories set up in Star Wars Rebels into the New Republic era, despite both projects being separated by the original Star Wars trilogy. This is even more prevalent when concerning the Ahsoka series, which has been essentially confirmed as Star Wars Rebels season 5.
As such, Filoni's movie is going to feature plenty of elements from the animated show, chief among them being Star Wars' Grand Admiral Thrawn as the film's primary antagonist. With the characters of Star Wars Rebels, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, and other players of the New Republic era in Star Wars facing off against Thrawn, the battle between the forces of good and evil will come to a head in Filoni's movie.
This was then paid off in Star Wars Rebels' series finale, in which Thrawn was wrapped in the tentacles of the Star Wars space whales known as Purgill. He was then taken into hyperspace, defeating him and stranding him in the cold reaches of space alongside Ezra Bridger. While this defeat can certainly be explained by Bendu's prediction, this could still play a part in Filoni's movie.
The Purgill's reappearance could be due to Ahsoka's usage of them but also Filoni's movie featuring the creatures. With Bendu's prediction potentially repeating itself, though almost certainly in a slightly different way to avoid repetitiveness, the Purgill will need to play a part in Star Wars' future.
