George Lucas himself was the true mastermind behind Andor, the best Star Wars TV show of the Disney era. George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney back in 2012, and it didn't take long for the relationship to sour a little. Disney CEO Bob Iger has openly admitted that was one of his greatest mistakes, acknowledging missteps and communication problems in his autobiography The Ride of a Lifetime. Since then, things do seem to have improved, with Lucas enjoying Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Back in 2013, Lucasfilm's Dave Filoni conducted an interview with IGN in which he discussed Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 5. As part of the interview, Filoni focused in on the character of Saw Gerrera, introduced as an enemy of the Separatists. Saw would go on to be played by Forest Whitaker in Rogue One, and he's also returned in Andor. According to Filoni, the character arc was exactly what Lucas envisioned.
This is exactly the shades-of-gray morality tale being told in Andor, a perfect description of the nascent Rebel Alliance.
