With the establishment of canon events in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, new fan art sees Miles Morales lose Gwen Stacy, a.k.a. Spider-Woman, instead of his father. One of the films of 2023 became Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, with Miles back on the big screen to continue his cinematic adventure. While the film introduced several new Spider-heroes, the sequel also saw the return of other characters, including Spider-Woman, as Gwen and Miles got reunited.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended on a dramatic note between the two heroes, but fans are now imagining things getting darker for them in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Art of Time Travel recently shared a new fan art where Gwen becomes Miles' new canon event, as the teenage heroine is seen dead in his arms.
This wouldn't be the first time Gwen dies tragically, as she is famously known for her major death in the Marvel Comics world when Spider-Man failed to save her. The storyline got loosely adapted into live-action in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Emma Stone's incarnation.
Given that Gwen even mentioned that it gets bad for her variants whenever she gets close to Spider-Man, it wouldn't be shocking if Spider-Man. Beyond the Spider-Verse sees that come to fruition. However, while they have teased it here and there, the Spider-Verse franchise is also about defying destiny, and given that Gwen has a spinoff on her way, it wouldn't make sense for the next film to kill her off.
For now, time will tell what happens to Gwen, especially as Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is closing out Miles' story. Given her big role at the end of the latest film, Spider-Woman is definitely going to be crucial as everything comes full circle. Hopefully, after the positive reception of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Sony will release new info for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse soon to give fans a better idea of what is coming in the next film.
