Director Christopher Nolan says that early viewers of his new historical thriller Oppenheimer have left the movie devastated.

The upcoming historical thriller follows physicist J Robert Oppenheimer working with a team of scientists during the Manhattan Project, leading to the development of the atomic bomb. It is one of the most widely anticipated movies of the year, with Nolan in the director’s chair and a star-studded cast.

Nolan has commented on how early viewers have been reacting to the film. “Some people leave the movie absolutely devastated,” Nolan tells. “They can’t speak. I mean, there’s an element of fear that’s there in the history and there in the underpinnings. But the love of the characters, the love of the relationships, is as strong as I’ve ever done.”The cast includes Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr.
