The platform plans to be more 'diligent' when signing future big money deals with celebrities

The reason for Meghan Markle's podcast being dropped from Spotify has now been uncovered. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously signed a £18million deal with the platform under their production company Archwell Audio.

Spotify has signed a number of exclusive, big money deals with for new podcasts with some of the biggest names in entertainment, announcing estimated £200million-worth of agreements back in 2020. Such series include The Michelle Obama podcast with the former First Lady and it also signed Kim Kardashian.

"And the ones that aren't performing, obviously, we won't renew. And the ones that are performing, we will obviously look at those on a case-by-case basis on the relative value." Meghan now plans to "develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform", her spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal.
