Anthony Albanese has been confronted on live television about Katy Gallagher"clearly" misleading parliament, after bombshell text messages emerged showing the Finance Minister knew about Brittany Higgins' rape claim before it became public.

Picture: Sunrise/Channel 7 Mr Albanese insisted he had not met Ms Higgins earlier, and only saw her face-to-face the same day the former Liberal staffer met Mr Morrison on April 30, 2021.

Senator Gallagher, who faces being referred to the corruption watchdog, also denied being involved in approving a reported $3 million compensation payout to Ms Higgins, which was signed off by the government in December last year.
