Film review: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a six-stars-out-of-five joyride

In this instalment, Miles is paid a visit by a villain called Spot . I at first took him to be a version of Rorschach from the Watchmen comics, but wait – that’s the wrong cinematic universe. Spot has a similar all-white-with-black-splotches design, but his spots function as portable holes of the type seen in old Looney Tunes cartoons.

Their mission is to protect the multi-verse from unauthorized incursions and canon event disruptions.
