Owen Jenkins's mum hopes the child-friendly film will alert young people to the dangers of open water

In the film Dog discovers three different hidden dangers in the water, but is saved every time by Duck and FishA mother whose 12-year-old son drowned in a river has launched a new animation film aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of open water.

Ms Jenkins said Owen had been playing with a group of friends when two of them "decided to go into the water and got into difficulty very quickly". Ms Jenkins founded the Open Water Education Network water safety programme in her son's memory and installed a throw line at the weir.Owen's mother Nicola Jenkins has been campaigning about water safety among young people since her son's death"It's just made me go really cold thinking about the animation because I do know that Owen would have loved this," she said.
