Stephanie Linus is a multi-award-winning actress, filmmaker, and philanthropist. Asides her many and celebrated acting roles, she is best known for her critically acclaimed movie Dry, which highlights the issue of child marriage in Nigeria, and for being the producer of the popular TV show Make Me Fabulous.
She is also the founder of the Stephanie Linus Foundation which focuses on maternal and child health. The Aba Women’s Riot, also known as the Women’s War, was a historic event in Eastern Nigeria where thousands of Igbo women organized a massive revolt against the British colonial authorities and their local collaborators.
The riot was fueled by the oppressive taxation policies of the colonial government and the imposition of warrant chiefs, who were appointed to administer the local communities.
