Singer-songwriter Linda Lewis, whose career spanned more than four decades, has died at the age of 72, her family has confirmed.
She first secured a non-speaking role in the British film A Taste of Honey in 1961 and three years later performed as a screaming fan in the first Beatles film A Hard Day’s Night.Linda Lewis was behind the top 15 hit Rock-a-Doodle-Doo She signed with record label Polydor and recorded the single You Turned My Bitter before forming the band White Rabbit.
Her first hit single Rock-a-Doodle-Doo reached number 15 in the UK singles chart and she went on to have a further three top 40 tracks throughout the next decade.
