Nonbinary actor Liv Hewson, who plays Van Palmer on the hit serieshas revealed that they won't be in the running for an Emmy at this year's award show, explaining that there is "no space" for them since the Academy separates the acting categories into male and female."It would be inaccurate to submit myself as an actress. It neither makes sense for me to be lumped in with the boys. It's quite straightforward and not that loaded.

Although Liv will not be in the running for an Emmy award, they will still be supporting their co-stars this season. LGBTQ+ activists have been fighting for gender-neutral acting categories. Categorizing the awards by gender excludes an entire group of talented actors. The Grammys has been a gender-neutral event for the past decade, while the Emmys, Oscars, Tonys, and Golden Globes have yet to take that step towards inclusivity.
