One of the hottest rising acts in the UK, Isle of Wight alt-rockers Coach Party have announced their debut album—set to arrive on September 8 via Chess Club Records. The quartet—vocalist Jess Eastwood, guitarists Steph Norris and Joe Perry and and drummer Guy Page—are coming off of their ferocious 2022 EP, along with lead single “Micro Aggression,” which came out this February.
The band’s new single, “All I Wanna Do Is Hate,” is a roaring, relentless fit of punk and noise pop that conjures-era Sleigh Bells and the distorted architecture of Sonic Youth. Much like Coach Party’s catalog at-large, the track finds the band writing through “the often entertaining struggle of real life.” “I am untouchable / Yeah I’m a dangerous girl / I’m gonna hate shit / You should embrace it / You’ll learn to like it,” Eastwood chants atop a hypnotic, riotous melody.
“‘All I Wanna Do Is Hate’ is about acting out against people who are trying to help, but you’re not ready for that and choose to do the opposite of the advice you’re given,” Eastwood says about the single. “This song is just about being incredibly angry, for what, is up to whoever is listening; but sometimes you need to go against everyone to learn a valuable lesson. Maybe you’ll write a cool angry song about it.”album artwork and tracklist below.
