A pensioner who lives in a converted lorry and lives off just £25 a week says he often eats dandelion leaf sandwiches to save money.
Mike was even homeless for a brief period of time and spent several years travelling, sometimes on his motorcycle and at other times a lorry. He has accomplished various goals throughout his life, including visiting Casablanca after seeing it in the famed 1942 film of the same name. His third and final goal was to scale the highest mountain in Morocco in the Atlas mountain range, which he said "was actually quite good, as the desert had been about 110F in January, while the mountains had just been hit by 15ft of snow and I hadn't taken my ice climbing tools or anything, just didn't think about it down there".
Mike is well-known with local businesses on the estate where is lorry is parked. He says they like having him around for the extra security he provides and will often give him leftover pallets, which he uses to fuel the fire inside his truck. As a result, he has a sizeable haul of spare clothing - though he insists: "Please don't bring me any more." He said he wanted to pay council tax, but for various reasons he currently couldn't.
