Comedian and actor Andy Samberg has been revealed to be playing a fan-favorite character in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

revealed that Samberg will be playing Scarlet Spider, who was briefly seen at the end of the most recent Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer.

In the comics, Scarlet Spider’s real name is Ben Reilly. Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker who was made by the supervillain Jackal. The character was central to the controversial Clone Saga storyline that was a major part of Spider-Man comics in the mid-’90s, though he developed a following in subsequent years.is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson.

“Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” reads the synopsis. “After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.
