. To keep things, um, fair, the contest has both amateur and professional categories. Entries must be submitted by June 21 and the prepared board presented to judges on Friday, August 4. Live judging begins at 4:45 p.m. and is followed by a public reception to enjoy the boards.
Boards will be judged on appropriate pairing of cheese, charcuterie, and wine , visual appeal/creativity . “Ohio has such a strong cheese industry,” said Jenny Crabtree, spokesperson for the American Dairy Association Mideast. “Ohio makes great wines. This is a great contest that brings the best of the best products together.”
Entrants must start with a 12- to 14-inch serving board of any shape or material and load it with cheese, cured meat and an array of complements. Additions may include fresh or dried fruit, nuts, mustards, jams and more. Wine pairings are part of the package.
