The latest trailer for the next Transformers movie has dropped, and as ever, we’re poring over the details to see what cars were cast for the new film. And it looks like there might be some Japanese neoclassics in the mix.
The new trailer establishes that “Transformer: Rise of the Beats” is set in 1994, and as a quick look at online auction sites will prove, there’s more than a little interest in the cars from that era. Of course, the 964-generation Porsche 911 makes a comeback, as does the second-gen Camaro, AKA Bumblebee, but there’s more, too.
As before, a VW Minibus can be seen in the trailer, as can an old tow truck with rockets that shoot out of its supercharger. A couple of quick shots may hint at Japanese classics, like a Nissan Sylvia and an R32 Skyline GT-R. However, the shots are very quick, and the cars modified, so it’s hard to know for sure.Regardless, given the growing interest in the rad cars of the era, it seems likely that this will be a visual feast for enthusiasts, as the series has long been.
The trailer lays out how these “Terrorcons” have existed on planet earth for a long time, and have remained out of sight by hiding as animals. While the plot of the film remains unclear, the driving force of the action appears to be a world-eating transformer that the film’s protagonists will have to stop. The film stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback , among many others. “Transformer: Rise of the Beasts” is set to debut on June 9.
