ABBA Voyage has donated their Phoenix Collection outfits to go on public display at the British Music Experience as part of the museum’s celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Swedish band stormed the 1974 contest with their hit Waterloo and solidified themselves as pop staples not only in the show but all over the world. Shockingly, the UK awarded ABBA zero points but it's all water under the bridge as they've chosen the UK to build a custom performance space, The ABBA Arena. The group take to the stage in digital versions of themselves, brought to life using the latest technology. The outfits sit opposite Eurovision 2022 winners Kalush Orchestra's looks and Sam Ryder's Spaceman jumpsuit, also on display to celebrate the Liverpool contest.
BME is also launching its new education workshop entitled Euro-Pop Culture which examines social and political changes over the past six decades concluding with the war in Ukraine. All general entry tickets purchased are valid for 12 months and each eligible visitor has the opportunity to support the museum by gift aiding the cost of admission. The ABBA Voyage outfits will be on display until August 31, 2023. You can purchase tickets here. The countdown has officially started. Join our Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool Facebook group
