Family of cinematographer fatally shot by Alec Baldwin to continue lawsuit against actor

The family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins who was shot by Alec Balwin say they will press ahead with their civil lawsuit against him over her death – despite criminal charges against the actor being formally dismissed.
In October last year, Baldwin shot and killed Ms Hutchins as he practised firing a prop gun on the set of Rustformally dismissed two charges of involuntary manslaughter brought against BaldwinBut legal representatives for the family said Baldwin could not “escape from the fact that he had a major role in a tragedy”, as they declared they would be pursuing the actor and the Rust movie production company for alleged battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence.
Prosecutors said while they were currently unable to proceed with the case, the decision to dismiss the charges did not “absolve Mr Baldwin of criminal culpability” and that investigations would continue.
