Angela Scanlon has told how she feels they are “kind of in our zone” with her chat show Ask Me Anything — and her dream guest for the programme.
“And I think there is a sense that like, literally anything could come out of my mouth and hopefully guests respond to that as well and they may find themselves oversharing a little bit more — people get a bit excited about that, as well, and a bit horrified; having a wild vulnerability hangover the next day.
She said, “I definitely think I had a moment where I was working as a personal shopper and then I did a few bits with Xpose, Off The Rails and those things as a stylist. I just remembered this moment of ‘oh my gosh’, this sense of terror — like, 3, 2, 1 on a countdown and going live. Her book, Joyrider, originally hit shelves in May last year. Angela told how while there was some nervousness about being so open in the pages of the book, it wasn’t something she thought of at the moment.
“I think a lot of people just thought it was a bit of hope — and that’s what I really, really wanted. There was this idea at the time that I’d been told, ‘oh, you’ll just have to live with it forever’. “And yes, there are things that I cope with on a daily basis like everybody else. But [I wanted to show] that you can get better and live a full, really brilliant life.And while the Meath native has some ideas for her next book, “it’s definitely not fiction”."I know loads of people — Graham Norton has done it, Sara Cox has done it over here and Amy Huberman has done it at home.
