Meanwhile, Ryan Tubridy triumphed over the weekend ratings as an average of 557,000 people watched the Late Late Country Music Special.

Tom Cruise’s hit Mission Impossible couldn't match Tommy Tiernan's regular RTE rating after he flick replaced the chat show on Saturday night.

But it appears Tommy’s replacement fell flat as an average of 107,000 people watched the hit Hollywood flick. A spokesperson for RTÉ said: "Friday night’s Late Late Show was watched by an average of 557,000 on RTÉ One and RTÉ One+1. It was watched by 57% of the available audience. On RTÉ Player, Friday's episode has generated 44,500 streams. The current series from September onwards has 969,000 streams so far.
