March 20, 2023Results of the governorship poll in the state as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission collation officers from the 17 local government areas show that Edeoga and Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party won in eight council areas each.
Edeoga of the Labour Party won in Isi-Uzo, Nsukka, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Eze South, Igbo-Etiti, Orji River, Enugu North and Udenu LGAs. The result of only remaining LGA, Nkanu East is being contested by both parties, leading to the suspension collation of results.During a press conference, Edeoga said the collation of results of the election in the council did not follow guidelines.
“It stands against the records available of what is the voting strength of Nkanu East and it stands against the number of voters that were accredited and the number of PVCs that were collected. “So, the result of Nkanu East is not acceptable; it is not acceptable to the Labour Party and I call for its total cancellation so that the due processes should be followed.
