As the lead, Mia Goth is a strange creature: deceptively childlike one moment and sinister in the next. Frankly, God bless her for existing in the otherwise bland landscape of samey starlets. With her cartoon eyes, she dashes around her stern German parents’ barnyard, whirling and performing in a dream of Hollywood confections made real – in between getting off with a scarecrow and sadistically killing the odd animal.
