The markets were engulfed by fire, which razed down many shops, causing the owners to lose items worth several millions of naira as well as other unquantifiable valuables.
Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, who made the disclosure via a press statement, said the release of the fund was aimed at providing an immediate succour to the affected traders who lost their valuables to the fire. He said the leadership of the traders’ associations in the markets had been formally presented with the cheques of N250, 000, 000 million by the governor at the Government House, Kano.
250m for Singer and Kurmi Markets, while in Borno Zulum donated 1Billion for only One Market.
