Grady Martin, the festival’s president and founder, said a lot of new people have moved to Tomball but may not know much about the area. The festival is a way to inform people about their heritage, he said. Many German migrants began to move into the northwest Houston area, including Tomball, after the Texas Revolution. The names of families who settled the area are still reflected in the names of local streets, schools and parks.
