Ted Lasso is returning to our screens this week but you may not have realised one of its stars hails from Northampton. The hit Apple TV+ show launches season three today and focuses on an American college football coach.
However, Ted's charm, personality, and humour begin to win over Rebecca, the team, and those who had serious doubts about his appointment. One of the players he coaches is Jamie Tartt, a Mancunian striker who is talented but very self-centred and arrogant. He is played by Phil Dunster who counts Dracula, Humans and Benidorm among his TV credits. Dunster was also born in Northampton and counts it as his hometown according to the New York Times.
The thespian realised at the age of 15 that he was too small for a sporting career path after a failed tryout for the professional club London Irish. He also considered following in the footsteps of his father and brother and joining the military.
