R&B singer Bobby Caldwell, best known for the 1978 hit-single “What You Won’t Do For Love,” has died. His passing was announced on social media on Wednesday. Caldwell was 71.

In a post on his Twitter account, Caldwell’s wife, Mary, said Bobby had been “floxed,” described as mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress due to an adverse effect from an antibiotic, causing his death.Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken. Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years. He had been"FLOXED," it took his health over the last 6 years and 2 months. Rest with God, my Love.

Bobby released several albums spanning R&B, soul, jazz, and adult contemporary. His hit song “What You Wont Do For Love” from his debut album hit No. 9 on the Billboard Pop charts and No. 6 on the R&B charts. His music is frequently sampled by hip hop and R&B artists.
