Possibly the biggest boon for Spirit of Newfoundland Productions is added seating — Gower Street United can accommodate about 80 more guests for dinner and a show. Plus, they'll have plenty of company in the former church. By CBNAndrew

Spirit of Newfoundland Productions will officially move into the lower level of Gower Street United Church next month. - Joe GibbonsA year after the former owners of the Masonic Temple in downtown St. John's sold the historic property, they're moving their theatre and catering business into another heritage building.

At the Masonic Temple, Spirit of Newfoundland could accommodate 120 guests for its standard dinner and show package, but will now be able to welcome more than 200 ticket holders. The unnamed theatre space — Halley confirmed"Gower" will likely appear somewhere in the title — will be on the lower level and accessed via one of the entrances on the Gower Street side of the property. In addition to serving as a site for Spirit of Newfoundland shows, it will remain available to book for other performances, Halley said.

According to Gower Street United board chairman Pat Griffin , members of the board recognized a few years ago there was a need to generate more rental revenue at the church.
