Seth Rogen Calls Negative Film Reviews “Devastating”: “I Know People Who Never Recover From It”

“I think if most critics knew how much it hurt the people that made the things that they are writing about, they would second guess the way they write these things,” he said on thepodcast. “It’s devastating. I know people who never recover from it honestly, years, decades of being hurt. It’s very personal… It is devastating when you are being institutionally told that your personal expression was bad. That’s something that people carry with them, literally, their entire lives and I get why.

It hurts when you win the lottery and you act like you deserved to win the lottery and people who haven’t won the lottery point out that no one “deserves” to win the lottery.

It's important to distinguish 'bad' reviews ie badly written, insulting, click-bait messes, from a constructive piece of negative criticism. High profile creators might court honest criticism, rather than always chasing tabloids and equivalent.

It's quite funny that the replies are full of people going 'HA HA WHATEVER STONER' and they're the sort of people who if you replied 'I don't like your tweet' it would ruin their week.
