Germany did not start, not even 'triggered' the wars. Go and study history, don't watch Hollywood films.
Too long ago to matter.
On the eastern front.
Excellent movie
Who cares about Oscars
Why not WW2?
Now the pushes propaganda for the Marxist Biden regime to get us into WWIII. Zero credibility
How can any news the AP reports be trusted when they can not even get the basic facts right?
A terrible movie. The worst film version so far. It has only little to do with the book. Watch the two earlier versions or - even better - read the book.

Austria-Hungary always gets a free pass.
As you push for war in ukraine
'Anyway, here's 10 reasons why US troops should be sent to Ukraine!'
Yes but do you realise that the critics in Germany panned it? Why because 'it turns a beloved literary classic into a spectacle “horny for an Oscar”, and military historians bemoaning its “black-and-white” historical inaccuracies.'
That was a movie and in the past 100+ yrs ago. But at present something more cruel, arrest, torture, savage indiscriminate killing of Own people and burning thousands of their houses in hundreds of villages by MYANMAR Military pales the World Picture !
no war
Kind of a stretch to say Germany started WWI, and the young men who fought this war did not bear the same responsibility as the old men who started it. This film, and the book, does a great job of representing the true horror of this conflict for all involved.
Well Germany didn’t start WW1 that was Austria. Though Germany did expand it.
Does this movie not already exist? Watched in high school 20 something years ago. Why remake and redo everything?
best picture imho….
The first world war is a little nuanced... Especially with the second world war in hindsight. The first was a waste, the second was a horror. I dunno what this next one is...
WWI was triggered by an assassination in Austro-Hungary and Japan invaded China 2 years before Hitler invaded Poland.
shit was boring...
“From the perpective of the nation that triggered and lost two world wars.” Wow, that’s rough. But fair.
Pretty sure Austria triggered the first one, not Germany.
Germany did not start or 'trigger' World War I
A masterpiece. It deserves Oscars Best Picture. For those who don’t like the ending: YOU, the audience, returned home to spread Paul/Remarque’s message. The movie doesn’t need to spell it out. You experienced it!
Thats why Germans are the best to do an anti war movie because we don’t heroize the war like for example “Privat Ryan” or “black hawk down”
Germany didn’t start wwi
Germany DIDN'T trigger WW1. FranzJoseph did. He was Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary. When his nephew and wife were assassinated, Joseph declared war on Serbia. THAT triggered WW1 .
this is the worst adaptation of the book and its still worthy of every oscar
Good movie!
The soldiers went through the same things
Hard for Germany to be solely responsible or causing WW1
Really perfect timing as the eastern front is currently digging trenches for WW3.
Germany did not trigger WW1 I mean seriously, AP, what are you doing here?
Good movie
Original is amazing too
One the best movies I’ve ever seen ⭕️
Best movie of the year IMO
⭕️ life is a ⭕️
and yet we continue to engage in war knowing all too well that war only ends when cities have been destroyed, men women and children have buried in unvisited graves and we return to the status quo.
It’s amazing!!!!!!
Germany didn't start ww1.
Such a powerful film.
