A complaint about loud music coming from the parking lot of Albert Head Lagoon in Metchosin early Thursday led to the arrest of a Victoria man who could face theft charges.
West Shore RCMP responded to the complaint just before 1 a.m. and immediately recognized a vehicle in the lot, a white Ford F250, as one they had been searching for. The truck was linked to a theft that had taken place in Sooke on Wednesday and involved stolen credit cards used to make a number of fraudulent purchases around the West Shore. The 35-year-old male driver was arrested, and a subsequent search of the truck turning up stolen identification, credit cards, a crossbow and bear spray.
The suspect could face charges of theft, possession of stolen property, and failure to comply with a probation order not to possess crossbows.“This is a prime example of exactly the kind of unpredictable situations that police officers attend every day,” said Const. Andrew Matheson. “What began as a simple noise complaint quickly unfolded into a complex multi-jurisdictional investigation.”
