The ANC on Sunday announced it is contemplating legal action against former Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter who left his position with immediate effect in what was described as “a mutual agreement” after an explosive television interview.

During the interview with presenter Annika Larsen broadcast on eNCA on Tuesday night, De Ruyter made several allegations of wrongdoing and criminality in the ANC.

The party is now challenging De Ruyter to back his claims by laying criminal charges within the next seven days against those he believes to be behaving unlawfully. “The ANC is firmly committed, through promoting and supporting policy, legislation, and action, to deal with any acts of corruption — or other forms criminality — and to hold any perpetrators to account. Corruption and criminality are implacable enemies of development and our commitment to build a better life for all,” said party spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri.

“We reiterate our call to Mr De Ruyter to lay criminal charges, with verifiable details about his serious allegations, to allow law enforcement agencies to investigate, and where appropriate, to prosecute those who have a case to answer,” he said.

Now the ANC will impede any efforts to bring them to justice.

For the 1st time ever the ANC Legally threatens an Whistle Blower ..

The investigation will reveal whether a minister X was involved or not. The minister & the Eskom board have a legal duty to investigate the allegations. They cant just dismiss them without having investigated them. Only thereafter can they charge Andre if they are proven false.

Only the minister/the Eskom board/an Eskom officer authorised to do so can lay charges at a police station based on the allegations. Then thecase will be investigated further. Andre has since resigned he cant lay any charges on behalf of Eskom. Eskom is the victim, Andre is not

This is a bluff and cruel joke - a gross misunderstanding of the law. De Ruyter didnt suffer any personal injury at Eskom as the result of the allegations he made. Therefore cant lay any charge. The victim of the alleged crimes is Eskom itself. Andre has since resigned. /1

Clever when they know how far they've infiltrated

ANALYSIS: André de Ruyter, ANC and the end of Eskom as we know itThe fallout from Andre de Ruyter’s television interview and his subsequent ‘release’ from his notice period by the board of Eskom has set much of South African society alight. The reaction to his comments reveals much about our country at the moment, and perhaps more than almost any other current issue demonstrates the deep fissures within it. The topic became one of race. As all topics or point of difference do. Fat ministers eat too much thats all it says. A good read
