SEOUL —
“As you heard, the enlistment process has started today,” the dancer and rapper told fans in a live video Sunday, according to South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo. “It does not mean that I am enlisting immediately.”BTS’s agency, Big Hit Music, said Sunday in a statement that J-Hope, whose full name is Jung Ho-seok, “has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement.
“We ask you for your continued love and support for J-hope until he completes his military service and safely returns,” the statement added. Most South Korean men are required to enlist in the military between the ages of 18 and 28. The seven members of BTS, who range in age from 25 to 30, were given the right to postpone their enlistment until age 30 for their contributions to South Korea’s global standing. BTS memberJ-Hope, who turned 29 this month, was coming up against that deadline.
Good, every country should follow this step.
