James Gunn debunks a Superman: Legacy movie rumor about Clark Kent having a son in the story. The DCEU is on its last legs as DC Studios is getting ready to kick off a new DC Universe. With James Gunn and Peter Safran tapped as the co-CEOs of the newly formed division, they are taking the DC brand in a new direction. Under their leadership, they are in charge of films, television, animation, and video games, all related to the DC Universe.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The slate will properly begin with Gunn's Superman: Legacy movie, which he is currently writing. It has yet to be determined if he will direct the reboot or not, but Gunn is reportedly expected to helm it. A recent rumor emerged about Superman: Legacy that this new take on Clark Kent would have a child in the story. However, it didn't take long for Gunn to debunk the claims, as he clarified that he had never stated that Superman would have a kid.How James Gunn's DC Universe Can Eventually Introduce Jon Kent All that has been revealed about Superman: Legacy thus far is that it will focus on a younger Clark.

The idea of having Jon Kent introduced this early wouldn't feel earned Clark and Lois Lane's son isn't born until much later in their lives. That is the approach The CW's Superman & Lois did while also adding a twin brother, Jordan Kent. But for the DC Universe, Gunn's Jon could be introduced either at the end of this trilogy or in a sequel trilogy. By that point, Clark and Lois will have likely come a long way as a couple.

This would allow the DC Universe to explore Jon as a young kid and differentiate it from the teenage incarnation of Superman & Lois. Having Lois and Clark start a family on the big screen would be something new for Superman's movie history, and hopefully, the DC Universe will get to tackle that story for them. As Superman: Legacy is targeting a 2025 release date, it will likely be a while until more details emerge about the upcoming reboot.
