Ohio State men's hoops coach Chris Holtmann and his assistants participated in his weekly radio show Monday, talking Purdue, Zed Key and more.

Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann's full postgame press conference from Feb. 19, 2023, after an 82-55 loss at Purdue. One day removed from the most lopsided loss of the season, Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann held his weekly radio show.. Ohio State is now set to finish the regular season with a losing record for the first time since the 2003-04 season and is set to play three straight home games before ending the regular season at Michigan State on March 4.

“I don’t have any additional news from ,” Holtmann said. “He’s being evaluated probably as we speak and we’ll know more. It’ll be a decision between him and his family in terms of what’s the next direction to go with.” “I don’t even know how much that’s been done in college basketball,” Holtmann said. “It’s a real rarity to start two, much less four. We’ve started three a number of times this year. I had never done three freshmen in my career. Hadn’t done two a whole lot. Zed’s injury and then wanting those guys to play, it probably is a little bit unfair to them even though we did get off to an excellent start. They competed and played well and had good moments.

Diebler said Okpara’s foul trouble limited something they had planned to do more regularly: alley-oop lobs for the big man off of pick-and-roll situations. “He’s slowly gotten better in some areas we’ve needed him to improve in. He’s had to adjust to where he is on the scouting report. When he checks in, you’re seeing the other team’s best defender. There’s some things we’re doing to help him, but he’s handled it well.”Both Holtmann and Diebler were asked what it’s been like to lose so many games.
