They changed the way temperatures are measured. They read temp every second now not every few minutes, and spike maximums that got averaged out before, are now recorded as new 'highs' Shameless, aren't they? We can NEVER apply this new methodology to old readings.

How far back did they go, not very far! Stop this bullshit it’s false and misleading.

Where was the data recorded to start with ... compared with today? Lots more measuring these days

Rainfall totals lowest in 13 years of above average rain years. This indeed sounds dire, almost unprecedented. Can we have a comment from Flannery?

Where? It’s been bloody freezing here.

They must have left the thermometer on the road, it's been the coolest summer I can remember auspol

Haha - you want to classify all Australia as above average - please explain with rationale as it must surely be an error. Some areas are below average. Back to weather school and learning how to present real results not a generalised assumption !

Looking at the records the BOM ignores anything from the latter part of the 1800's The number would blow their third warmest year out of the dry lake bed. The droughts were bigger as well

Rainfall statement clashes with their website data Obviously on-line hasn't been homogenised yet

It’s called weather. It’s happened before and will happen again. By the way, the Adelaide BOM moved its weather recorders from under the shade of a tree in Kent Town to the top of a concrete high rise in Adelaide’s CBD. GO FIGURE, CONCRETE MAINTAINS ITS HEAT MASS FOR A LONG TIME.
