Caleb, who also plays piano and drums, said he was “ecstatic” to win.

“I have been playing the flute for seven years and haven’t done many competitions before, so to compete at the City Halls was really fun,” he added.

“It was a really supportive environment filled with welcoming and talented musicians, so I definitely wasn’t as nervous as I could have been.” The teenager, who played Poulenc’s Sonata to secure the win, said: “I’m amazed to have won with how high the standard of musicianship was today and I’m excited about going to the grand final.”Partnership Group in 2021, is Scotland's leading festival of music competitions.

Young musicians from around the country compete to win career-enhancing prizes and perform live on a nationalA total of 25 secondary schools and five primaries took part in the event. Holyrood Secondary pupil Shubbe Kabanda, 17, who played classical guitar, and pianist Sasha Lau, 17, a sixth year pupil at King’s Park Secondary, were runners-up.
