Tony and Emmy-nominated actor Charles Kimbrough has died at the age of 86.

The beloved actor died in Culver City in California on January 11, which was confirmed by his son, Jim Kimbrough,Kimbrough was known for playing “uptight” characters such as Harry in Stephen Sondheim’s musical “Company” which would earn him a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor.

The actor rocketed into the mainstream in 1988 when he starred in the CBS sitcom “Murphy Brown” as news anchor Jim Dial.
