Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sally Field and Rita Moreno deserve much better than this mildly amusing, paint-by-numbers, feel-good film.

Jane Fonda, from left, Sally Field, Lily Tomlin and Rita Moreno in a scene from"80 for Brady."Super Bowl LI, held at Houston's NRG Stadium in 2017, is legendary among football fans because it is the only Super Bowl game to be decided in overtime and it also featured the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. The New England Patriots, led by quarterback Tom Brady, were getting crushed by the Atlanta Falcons early on but ended up flipping a 28-3 drubbing into a 34-28 victory.

Lou , Maura , Trish and Betty are four Massachusetts friends in or near their eighties -- Betty insists she's only 75 -- who get together every week during football season to watch the Patriots, and Brady in particular, play. So they decide, instead of swooning over their hero through a screen, why not see him in person at the Super Bowl?

Of course,"80 For Brady" also pulls at heartstrings as it attempts to celebrate friendship, struggling through adversity and feel-good uplift but it often feels rote.
