Despite wide acclaim for Frank and Bill's love story, TheLastOfUs episode 3 has been review bombed, with over 27,000 IMDb users scoring it a one star.

Despite the widespread acclaim for its love story between Frank and Bill , The Last of Us episode 3 is suffering from a review-bombing campaign. HBO's The Last of Us is a true-to-form adaptation of the video game and follows Joel and Ellie through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with the latter being humanity's last hope of finding immunity to a Cordyceps fungal disease.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The Last of Us episode 3 heart-wrenching explores romance in a world of zombies and devastation, and it has earned the love of audiences and critics. Unfortunately, it has also earned the attention of review-bombers who went on IMDb to hammer the project by providing over 27,000 reviews rating the episode a 1 out of 10 at the time of this writing. The episode currently sits at an 8.0 rating - significantly less than the first two episodes, which hold a 9.2 and 9.

While some of the reviewers discuss the episode slowing down the pace or shifting too far from the source material and Ellie and Joel's journey, homophobia is the undercurrent in many of the reviews, leaving the actual critiques feeling hollow. The Last of Us episode 3 changed expectations by providing a new way of looking at the apocalypse, so there is some cause to anticipate the massive backlash, but not the extent of it.

Why Review-Bombing Is On The Rise The Last of Us isn't the only piece of media to be review-bombed, and it likely won't be the last. Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power suffered from a review-bombing campaign aimed at targeting its diverse cast and feminist representation. Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law also suffered from review bombs, leaving Ms. Marvel with a 6.

Leave that home-o shyt outta there!!

We all know it’s the best episode of tv ever to air! The reviews on IMDb won’t change that. It’s moved millions of people to tears and shown that love is love. Incredible 1.15 minutes. ❤️

It was a beautiful episode, even though we didn't see this in the game, I'm so glad we got to see this relationship in the series. ❤️

MAGAhomophobic trolls.

Sounds like they need a safe space

Great episode, pointless yes, but still great.

it was a nice and well done story but not one relevant or necessary to the grand narrative. if anything the changes they made to Bill’s story made him less relevant

Now, a fun thing HBO could do is block any email attached to these bad faith reviews from watching the rest of the series With a little pop up message saying “we’ve heard your outcry & distain for the show so we have removed the offending material from your watch list”

no wonder top gun mav got positive reviews. reviewers were gifted with toxic male ego boosts.

We all know why… Bunch of snowflakes got their feelings dented

I only don’t like that they changing the story, but there’s gay people & gay relationships in the game… did people not play it ?

There’s currently 144,000 user reviews.

Let’s review bomb it back with 10/10 ratings

It was boring af compared to the first 2 episodes

So it was a Blizzard of snowflakes ❄️

I bet the homophobes who watched this episode actually felt their love & pain because of the incredible acting & are now mad at themselves for having the feels for a gay couple. Hopefully overtime they will realize it's absolutely normal to love another person of the same sex.

People complaining about the story of a show based on a game released ten years ago is like people complaining about the ending of Titanic.

Maybe you shouldn’t “trick your audience into watching a gay love story” as the director said

Nah review bomb or shit reviews?

Nah review bomb or shit reviews?

It was an amazing episode.

Wait until they win an Emmy for it - lots of moms basements will need drywall repairs

When people who don’t know the game is full of gay and then the show is full of gay. What a surprise

You can just tell who didn't play the game or actually pay attention to who these characters are, it's hilarious how the homophobes are behaving.

that's not bombing, most of those people probably didn't watch it. That's freaking out at men loving each other.

That's because incels are losers. The fckn protagonist is LGBTQA+ ffs 🙄

Gaaaaaaaay

Its just growing pains. People arent use to seeing gay relationships being portrayed so honestly. They'll get over it eventually, we just need more like this.

This is a whole new level of pathetic for the trolls... JFC

oh gee i wonder why

Some of you have such a surface level enjoyment of the story. If you believe The Last of Us is just about killing zombies then there’s a whole deeper meaning that just went right over your head

So, 27,000 glassbowls. They’re such a fragile bunch.

Bunch of homphobes who never played the game trying to rage against a World that Doesn't care bout their pathetically fragile sensibilities.

So homophobes flocked to IMDb, shocker 🙄

Absolute fucking nonsense. Let's add the context that the 1-star reviews are overwhelmingly just homophobic people acting out of hate against that which they are scared.

These people claiming that shows have 'gone woke' are essentially covering their homophobia and racism.

Just like clockwork the bigots come out with their pathetic attempt to bring down something amazing.

yall were really sleeping on ellie and dina, werent ya.

This is the exact reason why I don’t go off of public reviews and I just go off of my own opinion and give the film or show a chance. This episode is great. Unfortunate that it got bombed.

Look at all the homophobes with the glass-fragile egos crying. But... if it were two women (supermodel looks), they'd be praising it and cheering it on. If it were normal looking women, homophobe route again. Better go pray to that God you don't know the name of, skippy.

These liberal snowflakes can't even handle two dudes kissing these days! Wait

The same are trying to review bomb reality and have for generations.

if it were the exact same story with a straight couple it would have different reviews. people hate the gays

When 27,000 insecure men get together they can really show how strong and masculine they are. Big brave boys. That’ll be the last time a show threatens their sexuality with an openly gay couple.

lol fragile nerds

Fantastic episode

People are scared of boys kissing

Episode 3 is a masterpiece for the actors. Episode 2 intro was rough tho…

Shocking. I sincerely hope that productions have learned to take ratings on these sites with a grain of salt; because this has happened to so many films and shows I watched and the only complaint is nonsense about “going woke.”

But the right hates cancel culture D:

Wait til you hear about what happened to TLOU’s DLC and second game

Sadly the world has more then 27k chucklefucks. Was a great story and I never felt uncomfortable.

Gender is a plague and ‘sexuality’ is a joke

A bunch of fragile homophobes.

That's because the internet is full of bigots. There, solved that little conundrum for you.

Even if you don’t like the episode, it’s very obviously better than 1 star. The way they told the story and the designs of the episode were top notch

bigots do that, its irrelevant

Damn, the review bombing got the 10's too.

Imagine bashing on the episode because it deviated from the source material. Imagine being homophobic in 2023

I was watching this show alone because my girlfriend don't really like horror things, guns and violence... But when I watch this episode, she had nothing to do, so she came to watch the last half of the episode with me and this love story made her cry.

IMDB is supposed to be a site for industry professionals. Can’t we just removed that BS user ratings system? Everyone’s using Letterboxd now anyway.

chuds stay malding

I think people were hoping it would elaborate on what actually happened in the game. I know I wanted that.

Headline: “Lots of zombie movie fans hate gays!” This just proves that web ratings AND backward bigoted a**holes should both be ignored.

Just watched last night, there was no agenda in this story other than 'what is love in the apocalypse and when is that enough?' the rest is projection by people afraid when they shake their pee pee too much It was a fantastic episode that added meaningfully to the world building

the last of us is such an overated franchises yet the drama it create is pretty damn amusing.

Anti-woke crowd is so mixed up they can't recognize good writing anymore :(

Sorry, but 1-2star reviews should never be counted. Because most of them are copy and pasted from another person from another site, and 9 out of 10 these people never seen or heard of TLOU.

Why are IMDb still so bad at identifying review-bombing?

Conservative reviewed it poorly like it because it did not have a priest & their son in the episode. Rape and incest is what they are into.

The heteros are upseteros! How did straight people even survive with skin that thin?

People having an opinion is NOT a story. I’m sick of seeing this bull.

I mean. I didn't enjoy it. It was a side arc, which isn't necessarily bad, but it was the 3rd episode. I'm not even totally sold on the show and the plot. It wasn't a great time to divert into a long, non-chronological love story, in my opinion.

I enjoyed the Frank & Bill love story in TheLastOfUs.... ... Except for the scene when the raiders come. No survivalist would stand out in the middle of the street with no cover engaging multiple threats with a bolt action hunting rifle. Bill was way smarter than that. clmazin

They should have stuck with what the original writers intended.

Angry Incel/Homophobe Swarm can't detract from the episode

why do they even watch the show if they hate lgbt idgi

27 thousand people have the IQ sum of 40

I would have scored this episode as 5 stars and the first two as one star. After 2 hours of ridiculous zombie story , we get an intelligent hour of television. This was the only episode with heart and soul.

honestly i didnt like the episode but not because it was a gay love story i just didn’t like the episode because i didnt like the episode

Liked the episode, hated how it changed from source material, and removed alot of scenes I was looking forward to seeing.

Assholes gonna asshole.

Are you sure? I thought it was such a waste of an episode

this episode was very good. I'll take gay kissing over zombie kissing any day

You could argue ep 3 would have made a fantastic standalone movie. In terms of 1/9th of a beloved show being 95% about a completely unrelated to the plot relationship, then criticism is fair. Of course 1 star is absurd but it’d valid for fans to want them to cover the mains more

Exactly the reason why we didn't deserve this episode.

Episode was excellent. Added much to the story we already knew. I was particularly happy about how we got to see more of Joel dealing with Tess’s death then we ever got in the game. He just buries it down and it’s never really acknowledged again but he spent like 15 years w/ her

All they are doing is making any score on IMDb worthless

Tell me again who are the real snowflake. I didn't play this game but even I know about 'nospoiler' ohhhhh you are in for a wonderful surprise. TheLastOfUs spoiler with big context ⬇️

Surprise, worldwide ppl hate identity politics

For a few seconds I thought this was talking about This is Us and got super confused

Maybe don’t use your show for gay propaganda and people might actually like it, just a thought

Huh maybe we shouldn't have set up the system so small numbers of highly motivated weirdos can influence anything.

It's sad how many people here feel this bizarre need to defend bigots. Did you read the bigoted reviews you're defending? The ep got 35k 1-star votes, more than all 2-9's combined, compared to 1k 1-stars for the previous episodes.

Why is there never instances of positive review bombs? Have you ever taken a step back and considered the things accused of being review bombed are just dogshit and warrant that review? Random stan accounts on twitter arent really “wide acclaim”

People are overrated.

Cut the s**t....we know it's sony. Not that many people give a f**k about the show and the ones that do don't care about same sex relations.

Nobody fookin caaares

That fuckin story broke my heart. People suck.

Most of them probably don't even watch the show and think TLOU is 'woke garbage' anyway.

TLOU has one of the most dog shit fan bases in gaming. This episode was amazing and was leagues above how it was addressed in the game

In case the audience did not see Brokeback Mountain. 😄

This is what the alt-right extremist bigots do.

Tell me you’re a homophobe and incel without telling me you’re a homophobe and incel.

Incels are gonna Incel

In case anyone was wondering. Gaming, while more widely accepted than ever before, is still chalk full of incels, homophobes, misogyny, and lots of men who still live in their parents basements. It is still a work in progress. We will keep at it though. Great episode.

Homophobes at their finest. I hate the 'it's not cannon' or 'they are just going woke' no, it was cannon, this just made it so they got to explore more. If it were Joel and Tess, it would have been perfectly fine. Like it's 2023 people, disgusting.

8/10 for me... it was a beautifully shot episode, very well written (mostly, it's just not believable for Bill to get shot like that sorry), and to be clear it was a great representation of gay love and I have no issues with that. I just found it too slow and a bit boring 😅

The irony is that episode three is the only good part of the show.

Yo IMDb stop giving a voice to homophobia

nobody likes a forced insert gay romance

IMDB reviews are not a reliable source…

Maybe they didn’t like the episode? Is it okay for people to not like things? Isn’t that the point of reviews?

All this tells us is there’s a lot of homophobes that obsess over making IMDb reviews. Move on.

There was no review bombs. Just ppl who didn’t like it get over it

Fucking homophobes

it was like a 5 or a 6, definitely not a 1 bc it isn't she hulk 😭

And I bet every single one of those 27,000 reviews contains the word “woke” at least once

Yeah I fucking wonder why. Big goddamn mystery, that

Honestly, I’m not surprised

These people would blow away in the wind if they veered from the vapidness of their own reflection.

You're fake news screenrant

Maybe people other than the ones who rave about the episode on Twitter simply didn't like it. That can happen. Doesn't have to be a conspiracy. People can have different opinions. Not everyone has to love it or think it was neat.

Straight people don’t want to watch gay shit. Not hard to comprehend.

Who gives a shit about IMDb ratings? Does anyone genuinely use them to determine if they’ll watch something? Internet rating systems are garbage.

Or maybe it was just boring and shit?

This is where all of those bots Musk keeps talking about are. Bombing this.

If most of the rating is positive then how is that review bombing

A lot of y’all love to forget the fact that Ellie is the main character of this story, not Joel. Ellie already brought the community to the game series, so this continuation of Bill and Franks story is nothing new. Y’all can stay bitter and go play the already gay games. Byeeee!

Was just on IMDb and its not working as the episode is still rated at 7.9. Sucks to be them

Cause it wasn’t good

nah just was a little too gay for me

27,000 closeted homophobes. Go hug your Bible you hateful cretins.

“The changes didn’t improve the story” It very much did Bill and Franks end is far more a compelling reason to push Joel into becoming closer with Ellie, not remaining at a distance To cherish who you have

Not all negative attention is review bombing. Maybe it was… bad?

Oh noooo. So much not caring what bots and incels think.

so good reviews are acclaim but bad reviews are review bombing. got it 🙄

If you liked episode 3, then you like softcore gay porn. Most people would rather not watch an hour of softcore gay porn in a TV show about a game that contained zero softcore gay porn. Its as simple as that.

Homophobes are pathetic

For everyone say that it was probably just a bad episodecmon be real. Bad episodes are 3 or 4 out of 10 Even the worst movie out there mostly get 2s if a show goes from getting glowing rating to a sudden surge of 1 star reviews the moment a gay character is on screen you know why

Pass 👎....

As it deserved, needed more nudity and make out scenes 🫡

we can only hope every episode to the finale is a sodomy fest with zero zombie action

Sad, pathetic incels.

Lot of cowards out there.

This is news? Who cares what a bunch of homophobes on IMDB think? Other Homophobes are basically it, so is this an audience you want?!

It was a great episode, bigots will be bigots. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Idgaf if two men kissed on the show, people just wanna hate to hate. Pathetic.

I can't stand long drawn out sex scenes in any show no matter what gender the people are. It's so unnecessary, boring, cringe, and it adds NOTHING to the show/episode/scene. Sex can easily be implied without wasting screentime. If I wanted to watch porn I would.

Sad Boi Army

I've played the games. Ellie is a lesbian by the way 🥰 Hope the homophobes cry harder.

People are so miserable

Every one I talk to about it hated it seems like I’m the only one who really enjoyed it.

Why is this surprising? We need to just start trusting people whose tastes align with our own rather than the collective anonymous polls that make up our reviews now.

And you know why- incels and homophobes. Why are you being childishly obtuse?

It’s bc the episode fuckin sucked! Massive waste of time.

People are aware this series is based on a pre-existing videogame right? As in, Frank and Bill aren't something new lmao

It stands to reason. They dared to portray a same sex couple in a way that could not possibly be sexualized.

This was not a “Last of Us” episode, it was pure waste of time!

I'm betting a large number of people who had a problem with how the creators handled the 3rd episode own this:

Are people praising it because it was a gay couple? Or is it genuinely a good story that would have been equally compelling with a straight white couple?

Conservative snowflakes triggered by a gay kiss. Nothing new

Is it bad that I really enjoyed the episode and only enjoy it more because it makes homophobes uncomfortable enough to sign up to a website they likely had no account on before now just to be negative about something that should likely never affect them?

Wasn’t this like one of the best episodes of the show so far? Really shows the stance these people have when they’re screaming about “woke propaganda” like a loon in a padded cell instead of watching the show like a normal human being. Just go read a book if you hate it so much.

To those 27,000 “IMDB users”:

Acclaim by whom? It was an episode so pointless to the overall story that it made me question whether I want to watch any more

Damn cis heteros and their fragile 'masculinity'..

When it's just 10s and 1s you can assume the actual rating is an 11

Nah it's being review bombed by people giving it 5 stars calling it the greatest show ever created just because it has two gay guys in it

This is the equivalent of yuri bait in anime. As a standalone episode not taking in the context of the actual show (therefore being pointless), maybe it is good. In the context of the actual show, its typical woke bullshit pandering.

I guess it's good that I know nothing about the video game. Ep. 3 was excellent.

It genuinely still blows my mind there are people who feel so small and insecure in their existence, that they care whether or not someone is in love with someone of the same sex. Like absolutely pathetic little cretinous human beings. Hope they grow up one day.

Lmao and its still listed as an 8/10

27 thousand homophobes say what?

glad i helped 💪🏻

Who gives a shit what imdb thinks?

I gave it 4/10. It's not very good.

Overhype 🤣 The games are bad the story is boring recycled zombie apocalypse.

Losers. This shit was beautiful

🤕🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

This is so pathetic. This episode is AMAZING. These reviews are just from angry fanboys thats played the game or homophobes.

Look love stories are great BUT this is a post apocalyptic zombie infested story and average viewers EXPECT to see that world every sunday..i found this episode pointless as the characters are DEAD. I imagine the viewership will decline in episode 4.

He's such a strong survivalist yet he stands in the middle of the street while in a shoot out. It's a 1 from me dawg.

horse shit

“Wide acclaim” & wide acclaim on Twitter are similar but different. Twitter isn’t reality, the woke make up 2% of the population but own 90% of the keyboards. I watched it, it was a mediocre episode of a mediocre show. U’re all acting like it wasn’t to score virtue pts w/rhe herd

And they dare talk about cancel culture lmao

No matter when where or what genre, if you include black people or women, or gays, where only white straight men are accepted, it'll be considered woke.

Anti-lgbt people are so insecure and pathetic.

So tired of homosexuality invading and taking over entertainment. If I wanted to watch filthy homos I'd watch gay porno. They're all going to burn in HELL

If not All then most the men who hate on this episode have lesbian sex in their browsing history. I just cannot.

Reviews ain't justified but that sex scene was literally like the abby sex scene 2.0

Yep all 1s and 10s all all bullshit for anything

Review bombs are for cowards

YXXNGTRIBE this episode was beyond amazing

Honestly, expect Neil, Craig and the rest of the team to wear this as a badge of honor. They wrote a story so touching and raw that it caused all the phobes to turn out in droves to try and make it look worse, essentially drawing more attention. THAT'S how good this episode was.

They're gonna be even angrier when they find out the people the show is reaching couldn't care less what reviews on IMDb say

Good episode, ending disappointed me tbh

Who gives a shit? Writing stories like this only legitimizes this kind of behavior. Stop it.

It was a good episode lol

So a bunch of sensitive homophobes disliked...what's new?

Just wait until all of these homophobes find out about Ellie

were frank and bill even in the game

W

Review bombing hasn't meant anything for a while now. Studios know when material is a hit with their target audience. Anyone with current marketing experience can tell you that those reviews are ignored. No one cares what a bunch of inbreds is triggered over 🤣

CaroloVazquez acá vinieron los incels

Am I the only one who thinks people are intentionally over praising and overhating this episode for nothing but reaction points. The walking dead did this concept many of times to no amount of real praise but this episode does? I really don't get it? Where was this for Aaron?

Well IMDb should use this opportunity to ban those accounts and delete all reviews they have ever submitted. Easy peasy.

“mAyBe PeOpLe JuSt DiDnT LiKe tHe EpIsOde” no, fg losers are upset they were subject to story telling that doesn’t align with their own narrow view of the world. If a big titted babe fell into Bill’s hole, we wouldn’t be having this discussion

People conflate good stories that just happen to feature characters from marginalized groups with woke. When all they are, are just good stories. Woke for me, is when the medium is exploited for the purpose of social sermonizing and proselytizing. This was just a story about love

But like, who cares about the review bombing? We all saw it, and we clearly know that it was a 9.4+ episode.

27,000 fragile snowflakes that got upset about a love story

Homophobes are miserable😂

Conservatives are such petty little crybabies. LOL.

Same exact thing happened with Interview with the Vampire 😢because the main character is black and the main love story is queer.

'Angry homophobes review-bombed a show' Employ me, I just wrote a much shorter and more accurate headline

They are just jealous they are never gonna experience irl what love means.

I can’t imagine why any rational adult would care about iMDB ratings. It’s the worst possible metric to go by.

Good work giving them the attention that they want.

Pretty convinced the creators knew exactly what they were doing with this episode and how it would be received

wow people are homophobic

Lol too bad those reviews aren’t even half the people who watched. Such sad people who never realized this game was always queer.

Or perhaps 27,000 people didn't like it and the critics that give it critical acclaim are just shills?

So what? Who cares about IMDB or even looks at ep ratings. This isn't even news

Love seeing all these triggered clowns in the comments, lol.

Maybe said 'review bombing' were merely people raising their dissatisfaction with the major deviation from the main plot and boiling a compelling character down to a shallow archetype in a CW-tier romance plot compared to the subtle way the game handled it.

I read the reviews. Wow, rarely found reviews that doesn’t talk about hating on the gay love story LOL.

It is almost like homophobia. It was a love story like anyone else’s.

Snowflakes

If these words were written by Justin Roiland I would get them tattooed on my self

Only losers will review bomb.

Given the millions of people who liked it, I’d say this is probably just a smaller minority of people who didn’t? That doesn’t mean it was review bombed, or there’s an agenda. Just people entitled to their opinions.

What’s wrong with some ppl? This episode was amazing!

People don’t want to believe gay “people” exist.

Y’all just jealous that Ron Swanson went gay for someone who ain’t you.

That’s because people are full of hate and don’t know how to deal with it constructively

It's almost like the fascism is threatened by representation. Hmmm....

Homophobia has no limit...

30% 1's is 'review bombing.' 50+% is...normal? The level of dishonesty in these shills is amazing.

Imagine being so uncomfortable after watching two men kiss you have to get oh a soapbox and prove you aren’t gay, it’s called projection 😂

and by being so blatantly obvious, butthurt homophobes have only succeeded in making IMDB meaningless

I haven't seen it but I probably would have been bored by it by the sound of it. I didn't like the walking dead episodes that weren't about anything either. Don't give a shit they're gay, if anything that would make it better, I've seen more than enough straight love stories.

I think the right wingnut conspiracy doomsday prepper discovering his latent homesexuality is hitting a little to close to home for some self-loathing folks out there.

Make Frank a woman and tell me how much you love this episode. You wouldnt you would be bored and wonder why they stretched it out so long. But since they are gay you act like its the cure for cancer. Im gonna link the reviews all valid criticism none are because they are gay

I'd give it a -2 if i could Disgusting 🤢

Bunch of homophobes.

It's almost like there's a bunch of fascists and homophobes voting en mas to make it seem like one of the greatest hours of television is bad because it makes them uncomfortable.

It was a fine side episode. I wish the main characters were in it more, and I'm not thrilled with how Ellie is being portrayed.

This is sad…

I’m glad I stopped watching after episode 1. The only characters I cared about were Pedro, his brother and Pedro’s daughter. Once they killed the daughter I was like fuck this. That’s your first sign that they’re gonna woke it up - it’s no longer about a strong father character

I think you mean over 27,000 sad and bitter people

maybe, just maybe, people didn't like the episode as a whole?

FreelanceScien1 It just highlights the insecurity of some straight people who throw a tantrum over inclusivity. Wait until the second game is covered and we’ll go into full meltdown mode with those same people

Gay people existing in fiction isn’t “woke”. It’s just realistic.

It made the incels feel feeling so they had to review bomb 😂. It was an amazing heartfelt episode.

That wide acclaim wants to pretend we didn't waste an hour on piss poor fluff in a Apocalypse genre that the game did leagues better. Less is more. Especially when you deviate to a man getting his ass killed with cover for miles.

Still this EP have a 7.9 on IMDB. Try harder clowns 😉

'When a bunch of people praise it's proof it's good, if a bunch of people detract it's a review bomb'

Ah, the new Yelp. Thanks for reminding me I should leave a positive review on how much my husband and I enjoyed and appreciated the sweet, multifaceted love story of Bill and Frank. The code made sense, plus you can’t kill mushroom-head zombies 24/7. (And the music was A+)

Negative reviews doesn't mean review bombed. If this is the shit you're gonna pull every time a show doesn't get the success you feel it is owed, why should reviews even be a thing? Quit your job.

It was an excellent episode, the only reason anyone gave it 1 star is bigotry, ftbs.

29k Homophobes?

Interesting

Lets be blunt here, those who have reviewed it one star are a bunch of backward knuckle dragging bigots and homophobes, end of, period. It was a lovely episode showing the true loss that everyone has gone through in the 'end of the world' of Last of Us.

It's trash

Man, are those 'Oh no, gay people!' weirdos are going to be in for a surprise later.

Not surprised unfortunately

Is it a review bomb...if they genuinely didn't like the episode...

I wonder how they're going to react when they make an episode based off of the DLC Left Behind

That's a lot of angry homophobes.

I just know that all those 1 star reviews came from men who were jerking it to Bill’s persona in the beginning and then their heads exploded when they started kissing 😂

Wokeness.

Interesting that it took this long - the night of the premiere it had several thousand 9 and 10 star ratings and an almost perfect aggregate score on IMDb.

Not review bombed, but badly reviewed.

Incels and bigoted dudebros are a truly sad breed

Gay love story that's actually cannon and is actually staying true to the source material = woke right.

That’s a bummer, I thought it was done really well. The only complaint I feel is legit is that some ppl didn’t want to spend so much time on a side character, which I kinda felt myself. Otherwise, it was a very well done episode with great acting, and emotional weight.

Interesting

That's the right wing incels who can't stand to see positive portrayals of gay people. Everyone else knows it was spectacular television.

No one wants to see this shit

One of the many reasons that I find reviews absolutely pointless.

i haven’t cared about reviews since the 90s, they are meaningless now

Sadly the show isnt good. The actors are talented but the script and direction are really bad.

Can’t wait for these trolls to play last of us 2 and meet Lev. Also see who Ellie has been hanging with.

Fucking losers. Seriously. Like, the most pathetic, insecure people on Earth.

wtf

That means it’s really good

Imagine watching that and being such a little bitch that you give it a 1/10 because eww men kissing is gross lmao. Big fucking babies

Maybe people are too sick and tired of this BS being shoved down our throats? I know I've had enough

HOMOPHOBIA from closeted gay & hate filled fundamentalist, sex, obsessed Republicans

Aw the snowflakes are mad gay people exist.

Hurr durr im angry gay people dare to exist in a tv show

Wonder if it was the insufferable gamer incels + the typical religious homophobic crowd 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Wait did people not know Bill and Frank were gay? That was like one of Bill's big character points in the game. Sure they changed their fates but id argue its for the best

My only criticism is one of preference. One of the things that make the games so great is you barely ever forget that 'oh fuck, this is a very scary, very dangerous world to reside in,' and this episode kind of let's you forget that for way too long.

Sounds like 27,000 people should be publicly humiliated for their beliefs

One of the best episodes of tv that will be broadcast this year. People bitching about it are pathetic at best and homophobic and harmful to the human race at worst

These are the same IMDB users who voted The Dark Knight to be the 4th best movie of all time LMAO Just a bunch of pitiful bigots and losers incapable of complex thought

I've seen people say it was the best episode of TV they've seen in a long time. I mean, it was good but

I have personal beef with every one of this reviewers. If you don't know how to appreciate this absolute marvelous form of pure art, then you are my nemesis

They probably didn’t know what it was about until the actors started making the late night circuit. Several years ago people proved that Internet reviews were a scam. They created a Restaurant that didn’t exist and it became the number one restaurant based on Internet reviews

homophobes are such over-emotional snowflakes

It's a lot easier to click on a star on a website than to formulate some actual thoughts you might have to answer for.

How to tell the homophobic never played last of us. Like get a life

I am literally getting hbo max just to watch this show because it has episodes like the third one

Straight men are so fragile. No wonder straight women aren't interested in about 80% of them.

It was crap lmao like the whole show

There's 55k 10/10

Who 'widely acclaimed' it if so many people didn't like it lol?

I can't believe these people don't know that Ellie is a lesbian. tlou season two will be interesting.

I thought it was a well acted and thought out story. It struck the right tone and balance and I enjoyed it. Not sure why it was made in the context of this show though. It added pretty much nothing and maybe would have worked better as a stand alone film

IMDB reviews don’t matter now. I think we need to stick to critics, or perhaps verify user reviews and block negative reviews on shows or episodes that feature LGBT people from backwards nations

IMDB reviews have become useless except for telling which entertainments man babies are triggered by.

The snowflakes conservatives at it again, crying and shitting themselves in anger because they showed minority in a show 😭😭💩💩

Insecure people projecting their insecurity and lack of confidence in their sexuality onto media. Nothing new.

This was probably the best episode of the series thus far.

tweeting_keith A lot of homophobes still out there

27,000 people dobbed on themselves with two characters who have been clearly gay for ~10 years.

Absolutely loved this episode

The whole point of the negative reviews is about str8 white people becoming a minority and be treated the way the now treat queer people . Even in 2023 that does not stop shocking me as a person .

imagine being this mad about a tv show. yall need jobs.

Seems like it was just 'reviewed' and not 'review bombed'. They didn't like it, you did, move on.

That’s dumb

I wonder how many of those people scoring it 1 star, caught themselves crying when Frank is telling bill how he wants to spend his last day, and couldn't accept that a queer story made them feel emotional.

I really enjoyed the episode. I just wish there had been some way for Bill to have lived on, as I was excited to see how his interactions with Ellie turned out.

I give it 5 STARS...magnificent episode.

Some people really just don’t have a life huh?

homophobic people are so pathetic fr

One might say the episode 'triggered' a whole bunch of anti-gay chuds, and they had to leave it a one-star review to ease their little snowflake hearts.

27,000 losers right there

There is always one dude who will see something blatantly bigoted and go 'but what if they just didn't like it'

The alt-right youtube grifter scum were super triggered by this episode, so they do the one thing they can that lets them feel like they have anything resembling 'power': pathetic shit like this. Meanwhile, real people are actually loving this show.

But completely ignore the obvious positive review bombing?

Of course it has 😑

I'd like to add the Neil cuckmann wasn't the original director of last of us it was a woman that was completely erased and taken over by cuckmann. It wasn't Neil's idea at all and yet he took everything from this female director

Maybe because Bill didn't need to have a backstory at all... Also pandered and made Frank a disabled guy for disability points as well as have a gay relationship. It wasn't subtle this is what cuckmann does he panders to get forward and success

Wow, homophobic…

Nobody was comparing about the positive review bombing. Why start now?

it’s the best episode ppl just sensitive ab gay ppl existing

It's sad that homophobes think that every movie or series out there should only showcase a guy and a woman kissing. Not everything is about straight people. Cope.

Of course homophobes are review bombing 🤓

They really to get over themselves

Who thought that trash was good? It’s not being review bombed, it’s being reviewed properly.

Never pay attention to sites that allow reviews by the public. They can always be abused & now weaponized. It sucks, but that’s where we are.

If you are a business owner, it is your civic duty to refuse service to any known or open homophobes. They should not be made to feel welcome anywhere they go. Bigotry isn't dying out on its own, so it should be isolated like any other infectious disease.

Maybe the show just sucked? Metacritic. Episode one is 8.6, and suddenly it's 4.6?

Maybe they hate it , I’m gay and i hate it do nothing with the story showing two gay love tragic story for what reason what did it effect the story line nothing

I'm sure it has nothing to do with everyone hating Queer propaganda being shoehorned into every TV show and IP.

Homophobes and weak men always get triggered and review bomb when a popular show or movie goes gayer than they can handle, it's not new

“Do you love me? Then love me the way I want you to” - Frank

OR.... OR.... maybe audiences don't like filler episodes, especially so early on in the series? Beautiful episode, of course, but if it doesn't contribute to the overarching narrative, there's no reason for it to exist. It's storytelling 101.

It's only ever a 'review bomb' when the scores are negative. Maybe it was just a shite episode. TV seems to be on a downward spiral these days.

Review bombs doesn’t count!

Haven't watched it and don't plan to, it just seems to sad for me but the other shows like LOTR actually did suck .

Can someone tell me why audience scores matter to anyone when we know how easily manipulated they can be?

The criticism is legitimate in that the episode does zero to advance the plot of the protagonists (Joel and Ellie). As good as the episode may have been as a stand alone story, as a part of a series it was an overly indulgent exercise in how not to depart from the main narrative.

Wide acclaim from who, the critics who constantly score shitty movies a high rating while viewers give it low ratings (and vice versa)?

Screen Rant thought the Resident Evil series was worth writing about. Now this. 😬

I think this 'let people rate things even if they didn't see it' system needs some bug fixes.

Nick Offerman giggling over strawberries is all I asked for from any steaming service

Nobody into the Zombie movie/TV genre wants to see gay men.

Turbo virgins

This is how you spot a review bomb by the way. Episode 3 had almost 30,000 more reviews than the first two episodes. 27,000 of them 1 stars. Don't let anyone tell you this wasn't a review bombing.

The scene was amazing. I get it though, homophobes wouldn't like it. There's nothing wrong with that, it is what it is. Respect diversity, even homophobes.

Let LGBT audiences into your heteronormative spaces! We’re not ruining shit! Y’all need to be exposed to literally everything that isn’t boy girl romance 😂

3rd episode was straight garbage.

Hmm 🤔 wonder why they did that

Beautiful episode

It's more than likely a combination of people who didn't like the guy on guy stuff and people who didn't like that it deviated so far away from game,I think most fans know it wasn't going to be a recreation but thought some iconic scenes and interactions would be in the show

Anyone review bombing this is at the absolute bottom of the human race

Wait until all the losers finally realize someday that still doing dorky clown shit like this doesn’t actually accomplish anything anymore. Show was already picked up for another season…and these clowns just get laughed at. Congrats.

That's crazy.

sensitive snowflakes triggered over two men in love lmaooo

What about the 5 stars? Is that review bombing?

Stop pretending IMDb means anything

The only reason people LIKE it is bc it's gay. Want a reason to dislike it and you have many many options bc it was trash in many many ways! 😂

And majority of us fucking love it 😊

That speaks poorly of a lot of men reviewers. Not the episode

Do the homophobes not realize that review bombing means they are still interacting with and raising the profile of the episode/show/product? That benefits HBO.

They must not have played the game

Change Frank into a Francine and suddenly they'd have zero problem with it.

People can even hate on love…well fuck. The writing was perfect, the acting was perfect and the love and care felt real, wish everyone had something like this at least once in their life. Love is love, no matter what! 💙

27 000 absolute losers 😳

Crap episode. Man loving a man, crap. Not even in the game.

Holy shit, talk about people who know nothing of the story and the writers wanting to expand the backstory of a character, cry your bigoted homophobic tears. If you don't like it, then stop watching

It'd be interesting to see what the viewership count is for episode 4. Viewership count was high for ep 3 but does not indicate viewer retention for the entire episode. Only HBO knows how many viewers checked out mid episode.

Fragile little manchildren

Yep.

InFormalMajesty

People often hate on things they see in themselves and are afraid to admit

I'm so glad I'm not online enough for this

The moment I see 1 star reviews like this I add several points in my head to the rating 😂

This episode sucked. The changes they made didnt improve the story. Where was the Bill and ellie banter? Where was the bloater we first saw in the school? Bills Town was one of the best parts of the story and they completely took it out to show us 2 men in bed?

1 Star and 10 Stars.. both of them are pathetic. This is not 1/10 but 10/10? Absolutely not. Hell no. 6/10 for me . They shouldn’t have cut game scenes

Never taking user reviews seriously anymore, children will just keep review bombing them

Absolute bunch of losers the lot of them

And that's why shouldn't trust their reviews

And yet that doesn't tell anything about the quality of the art in there. Be it writing, acting, directing, set design or anything else. We need to learn: Just because a majority says something, that's not an objective, rational or valid verdict per se. btw: Also for democracy.

Idk, from a story perspective and as a fan of good storytelling i absolutely loved this episode.

Fuck that! People need to let people be people.

I will just skip that part when i get to it

NEVER going to understand how people still need other people to tell them what is 'supposed' to be good. Good luck with your life.

I mean, you could swing it the other way as well. All for a B+ episode…

Honestly I really liked episode 3, people complain too much and whine about sticking to original material. It was a great episode although I longed for more with Frank and Bill and Joel, it was good.

I love the first game, hate the second - so far the series has been tremendous, god knows what I'll think of it if they follow the Last of Us part 2, but episode 3 was a brilliant piece of television with amazing performances, well done to all involved.

I know Bill was gay in the game and I'm fine with that and this backstory. I don't like how they removed the best part of the game though. And I also think Cuckman probably intentionally wanted this episode to further the liberal agenda

KaiserNeko Homophobes gotta phobe.

It was different from the game but it was a great story/episode. I was happy to see Bill and Frank got a better story than what was in the game.

It was a 10/10.

Homophobic bit*hes

You misspelled “rabid homophobic conservatives” as “IMDb users” for some reason.

Absolutely horrendous. What exactly is the objective of these reviewers? It's like anything that is remotely gay or non-European is met with excessive energy to tear it down just to conserve their elitism. How are these people not exhausted by their own hatred?

This really does show that we need to just label these grifter reactionaries for what they are: blatant bigots. We do not need to consider their opinions. They are lying, and when they're not lying, they're just hateful assholes.

Yeah cause the right hates art because its creative and not based in hate.

We know why. Imagine if they'd made Frank black.

KaiserNeko I feel like thia always happens one way or the other. Its kinda boring. That said the episode was great

Nah it was just weak woke bs. And the majority of us don’t care for it.

To much dudes feeding other dudes strawberries an not enough dudes killing zombies . I don't recall playing the dude on dude level in the game .

Its probably a lot of people that didn't like they deviated from the game. Definitely some were from assholes that just don't like a good love story

everything at this point is a review bomb to you people so why should we believe you

Who cares. The sad chuds review bomb all the time. Doesn't make them any less pathetic or irrelevant.

Yet we're the ones looking for something to be offended by. 🤷‍♀️

When you tell a queer story and the graph looks like this, you're probably doing it right

I loved it! A beautifully told love story. Yes, it was different to the game, but I liked the deviation.

I like the show but it is grossly overrated. The set design, artistic direction and the story is good but nothing spectacular in fact things look low budget at times.

IMDB is excellent for finding out what your favorite creative personality is working on and discovering things people have done before. It's a great tool. As for IMDb reviews, it's a cesspool where the alt-right loves to swim. II don't even consider it when choosing reviews.

Conservatives: Unlike those woke snowflakes im not so easily offended, with their stupid social media activity that doesn't do shit Two men: *are in love* Conservatives:

I thought the episode was really well done, but because I'm on the internet, I had two complaints: 1. I think Bill as a character (purely from TV) had more traction as a prepper and would have liked more invested in him. 2. I wanted to see more of the raid. Or more raids.

Not unlike the kids Movie “Strange World”, the 1 star reviews have nothing to do with the quality of the episode, and everything to do with the close minded views many still share. It’s disgusting and The episode was fantastic.

Cuz people are terrible period

The episode did not receive wide acclaim beyond your twitter account.

No doubt by bible thumping yanks

Homophobia strikes again smh

You forgot to say Republicans bombed it

I saw that coming! Too much hype

It’s getting easier for people to spot the narrative now.

I just spent 12 years surviving the zombie apocalypse. They didn’t have a time jump for 6 years. This jumped 20 years after 35 mins and missed all the good bits.

I haven't played the game..But 3rd episode was great imo.

It's the 21st century, yet some people still haven't evolved past thinking like apes.

In all honesty, I truly think the way the show writers chose to color outside the lines for this part of the game was pretty good.

I’d give 1star too…who the hell prepares for invaders for a decade then goes out to the open field to fight them to get shot…

Wonder why😂

definitivamente ni en un apocalipsis podemos existir, hay que hacer representación como en la hora pico pa que los heteros no se enojen🤩

The episode was fantastic. Yes, it deviates from the game by altering Bill and Frank’s respective fates, but that’s what makes the adaptation great; it’s not a 1:1 copy of the game. Also…y’all know the guys that wrote the game, developed this show, right?

homophobes ruin everything

The ones who are review-bombing are supporters or members of those hate groups.

What?!

Conservatives remain jealous of men who can actually take showers and keep their buttholes cleaned.

Deleted scene of Frank and Bill

Homophobic nerds

So, you get upset when being called out for canceling people because it’s a form of free speech, but it’s not okay to give a low review as an expression of disapproval? Gotcha

Perhaps people didn't like the episode?

Internet scared of gay dudes y’all so weak it’s sad.

That’s homophobia for ya.

Ah, sweet, sweet homophobia at full display.

27,000 homophobes

I thought it was about killing zombies and surviving the outbreak

And they all vote conservative

Can we start being honest about IMDb reviews now? Every feminine project, queer project, poc project is treated this way there with few exceptions to the rule of course

Lmaoo... Una go learn one day

no man whos straight and confident in his sexuality rated this episode low if youre so butthurt and upset by a gay relationship in a tv adaptation of a GAME youre deep in the closet

I'm gonna actually make this really deviating argument, and it is gonna be a tough one to swallow for some, but if you like the way the game did it better, thats ok, and you can always go play the game to get that. The show did something different, thats cool and also ok.

But 10 stars is no longer review bombing, right?

Homophobics have time omg, embarassing

oh

I liked the Episode thought it was really well done. But having played the game I just didn’t like decision they made with Bill’s fate. We didn’t get to see those moments with Ellie, Joel and Bill like we did in the game.

Found a few of the review bombers!! All starting to add up now..

The story was so unnecessary and stupid…. You don’t have to force gay shit down our throats

People suck

Just because y’all don’t like gay people don’t mean we should be punished. Just leave us alone!

Gotta love incels... 🙄

Could tell y’all why but you wouldn’t like it
