Gov. Shapiro to join Punxsutawney Phil for Groundhog Day celebrations

Governor Josh Shapiro’s office has announced that he will be at Gobbler’s Knob at 6 a.m. Thursday morning to help celebrate Groundhog Day along with the rest of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club and other revelers.is when everyone’s favorite breed of rodent determines if we will get an early spring or not. Legend has it that If they see their shadow, six more weeks of winter are on the way. If not, then we are due for an early spring.

Punxsutawney Phil is arguably the most famous of the various weather prognosticators out there. And every Feb. 2, his handlers bring him out to see if he’s seen his shadow or not.
